Event Hosting.
Trade fair, conference, company celebration or open-air event: in event hosting, you ensure that guests arrive smoothly, find their way around and have a good time. You check tickets, manage the cloakroom, help with set-up and are the first point of contact on site.
THIS AWAITS YOU
Typical tasks in event hosting.
Whether you are on the door, looking after the cloakroom or helping with set-up is specified in advance for each shift. That way, you only commit to what suits you.
1
ADMISSION
Check tickets and admit guests
You scan tickets or check guest lists, hand out admission wristbands and ensure that things move swiftly at the entrance.
2
CHECK-IN
Register guests
At trade fairs, congresses and conferences, you welcome guests at the counter, hand out name badges and documents, and answer initial questions.
3
CLOAKROOM
Attend the cloakroom
You take coats and bags, issue tokens and keep track of everything, even when it is very busy – until the last guest leaves.
4
GUEST SERVICES
Informing and directing guests
You show the way to halls, stands and seating areas, distribute programmes and are the point of contact for all questions relating to the event.
5
SET-UP & DISMANTLING
Help with setting up and dismantling
Set up chairs, assemble high tables, place decorations, put up signage – and dismantle and load everything up again after the event.
6
CATERING
Support catering
At receptions and during breaks, you help at the buffet, serve drinks or clear tables – hand in hand with the catering team.
In short: event support is varied – trade fair counter today, cloakroom attendant at a company anniversary tomorrow. You decide which assignments you take on.
Particularly suitable for you if …
you enjoy being around people
Hundreds of guests in a single day: you welcome them, assist them and are the friendly face of the event.
if you want to work flexibly
Events are one-off dates. You commit if it suits you – for a weekend or for a few consecutive trade fair days during the university holidays.
you are looking for variety
Exhibition hall, concert hall, hotel or open-air venue: every assignment brings new places, new people and new tasks.
you keep an overview amidst the hustle and bustle
When hundreds of guests arrive at the same time, you remain calm, friendly and know where everyone needs to go.
NO TRAINING REQUIRED.
What you should bring with you.
You do not need any special training. What matters is that you approach guests openly – the team will explain the on-site procedures to you at the start of your shift.
Friendly, confident manner
You actively approach guests and remain calm and polite even when dealing with queries or waiting times.
Reliability
Events have fixed start times. You arrive on time, because from the start of admission, every person on the team counts.
Endurance
You stand for many hours, walk long distances across the site, and lend a hand with setting up and dismantling.
Decent German, English a plus
You explain routes and procedures clearly. English helps you at trade fairs and international congresses.
Appropriate clothing
Mostly plain black clothing and comfortable shoes, sometimes a shirt provided by the organiser. Your assignment information states exactly what is required.
Important for security tasks: Bag checks or stewarding duties fall within the private security industry and require certification pursuant to Section 34a of the German Trade Regulation Act. You can see which tasks an assignment includes in advance in the shift details.
