General questions about working at Staff Eins
Do I have to be a student to be able to work at Staff Eins?
No! We no longer employ students exclusively; from now on, we are here for everyone with a part-time job.
Can I also work for Staff Eins as a dual student?
This is possible; however, we would need to assess this on an individual basis.
What requirements must be met in order for me to be able to work?
Generally, there are no special requirements. Our supervisors organise the workflow and support you if you have any questions. We make sure that you are properly trained.
It is important that we have received your documents (proof of enrolment, identification document, profile picture) and data (see WebEins). In some areas, proof is a prerequisite, such as a health certificate – this will then be noted in our shift scheduling system.
Can I take on different types of jobs?
You can independently sign up for different types of jobs. The opportunities shown to you in our shift planning system depend on your original application. Please contact us if you would like to adjust your areas of work at a later date.
How do I know whether I can actually do the job or am qualified for it?
Generally, you will receive an introduction for every job and can ask your supervisor at any time. Once you have taken on a job several times, you can also carry out more independent tasks. In principle, almost all jobs can be performed without prior experience. If you are unsure, you can always ask us about specific requirements.
Who can I contact if problems arise on site?
If you encounter any problems during your shift, you can contact your supervisor at any time. We also work closely with our clients to continuously improve the quality of work. After completing a shift, you can additionally rate the working conditions anonymously; every rating feeds into our quality management.
How are break times regulated?
Our supervisors ensure regular break times and a pleasant working atmosphere.
Questions about the employment contract
How do I get my employment contract?
You can request your employment contract yourself via a button in WebEins; we will then send it to you by email. This normally takes a few days. You sign the contract and then upload it to WebEins. Once we have verified it, you can sign up for your first shifts.
I already had an employment contract last year. Do I need to sign another employment contract this year?
Yes, our contracts are fixed-term, and you have to sign a new contract regularly.
Do I have to reapply for each semester as a student?
No, your data is stored with us, so there is no need to submit a new application. Please ensure that your data and documents (proof of enrolment and identity document) are up to date. You may also need to request a new employment contract.
When will the payroll be processed?
Payroll is processed by the 10th of the following month. Please ensure that we have your complete bank details in our WebEins employee management system so that we can transfer your wages as quickly as possible. Expense receipts will be reimbursed promptly.
What counts as a full day’s work and what counts as a half day’s work? Do 5-hour shifts count as a full or a half working day?
Every shift, regardless of how many hours it lasts, counts as one working day. This also means that shifts lasting 5 hours count as a full working day.
Do I have to pay taxes?
Whether you have to pay tax depends on the number of jobs you have and your total earnings from all your jobs.
For which shifts do I need a deployment receipt?
You will receive a work confirmation from us for all shifts where you work in a smaller team and which take place outside our office. These include, for example, jobs in hospitality, promotions and at airports. You only need the confirmation if we have also sent it to you in your assignment email (attached as a PDF).
Please print out the receipt and take it with you to your shift. Your working hours on site will then be recorded on the receipt, after which you should send it to us. This ensures that you are properly paid for all the time you work on site. You do not need a deployment receipt for work in the cruise sector; your supervisor records the working hours here.
Employee Data & Documents
How do I submit my personal data to Staff Eins?
You enter your personal data in our employee management system (WebEins). Please ensure that your details are complete and always up to date, as they form the basis of your employment contract with us.
How do I log in to WebEins to enter my personal details?
We will send you the access details for WebEins by email. This normally takes no more than 3 working days, but you will usually receive the email the following day. Please check your spam folder if you have been waiting unexpectedly long for the email.
What information does Staff Eins need from me so that I can work?
We require the following information from you: name, date of birth, address, mobile phone number, bank details, pension insurance number (= social insurance number), tax identification number, as well as information about other employers. Please ensure that this information is always kept up to date in WebEins.
How can I find out my pension insurance number (German: Sozialversicherungsnummer)?
You will receive your pension insurance number on your social security card as soon as you start working in Germany for the first time. Your pension insurance number always consists of twelve digits. You can recognise it by the fact that digits 3 to 8 represent your date of birth. If you have already worked in Germany, you can find the number either on your social security card or on your payslips from other employers.
If you have not yet had employment subject to social insurance contributions, you must contact your health insurance provider so that they can send you your social insurance card.
If these documents are not currently available to you, you can also obtain your pension insurance number from your health insurance provider. To do so, take your identity card to a branch of your health insurance provider in your city. Alternatively, you can ask your health insurance provider by telephone to give you the number.
Another option is to contact the pension insurance provider directly (e.g. if you have private health insurance). You can do this via the free service hotline on 0800 1000 4800. Your pension insurance number will then be sent to you by post.
How can I find out my tax identification number?
Please note that this method takes considerably longer than requesting the number in person directly from the tax office.
What do I need to bear in mind when entering my bank details (IBAN and BIC)?
We always transfer your salary electronically on the 10th of the following month. It is therefore important that your bank details are complete and correct. When entering your IBAN and BIC, please ensure that the codes have been entered in full and correctly: the IBAN for German accounts consists of 22 characters. The BIC (= SWIFT code) consists of 8 or 11 characters. Both codes may contain numbers and letters. Please make sure not to confuse similar-looking characters (e.g. the number “0” and the letter “O”).
Which files does Staff Eins need from me so that I can work?
We require the following files from you: a profile picture, (for students: a current (!) certificate of enrolment), and a valid identification document (identity card or passport; if you do not hold German citizenship, please provide your residence permit). Please ensure that these files are always up to date in WebEins.
What do I need to consider when choosing my profile picture?
We use your profile picture to print an employee ID card for you. It is therefore important that you are clearly recognisable in your profile picture. You do not need to have a professional photo taken especially; a photo of you taken with a mobile phone against a neutral background is sufficient.
Please pay attention to the following: Your face must be clearly recognisable in your photo, the image must be sharp and must not have been digitally edited. Please remember that this photo should make a good impression of you. We cannot accept photos featuring multiple people, party photos, etc.
As a student, do I have to upload a certificate of enrolment for every semester?
Yes, we always need a certificate of enrolment for each current semester in which you wish to work with us. As a student, a current certificate of enrolment is the basis for your employment contract.
You can upload either your certificate of enrolment as a PDF file or a photo of your student ID. It is important that we can read the details. It is notsufficient to simply upload your matriculation number or student ID. Important! We would like to ask you to upload your current certificate of enrolment to WebEins yourself each semester.
Which identity document can I upload?
We can accept the following identity documents: identity card or passport; for employees without German citizenship, a residence permit. It must always be an official document with a photo. A clear photo taken on a mobile phone is sufficient here too. Please remember that you must carry your identity document with you for all jobs at the port or on cruise ships. If you have different identity documents, you must choose one document that you will always have with you at work.
Do I need to upload a CV?
No, it is not necessary to create a formal CV. However, it may be helpful for us to know whether you have any particular knowledge or experience. An informal PDF document is sufficient here. You are not required to upload a file in this section.
What do I need a health certificate for, and how do I get one?
You need a health certificate for jobs in which you come into contact with food, e.g. in the hospitality industry. To obtain one, you must contact the public health department in your city to find out the current appointment dates (“Initial instruction for employees handling food”). Issuing the health certificate costs approximately 20 to 30 euros. We will cover this amount for you if you do not yet have a health certificate. Attention! In order to ensure that the costs are covered, it is important that you contact us beforehand.
Which jobs require a driving licence?
A driving licence and safe driving are essential for jobs in the shuttle service. We also offer shifts driving our team to various work locations. If you would like to apply for these jobs, it is important that a legible mobile phone photo of your driving licence is available in WebEins.
How can I change my address and telephone number?
You can update your details in WebEins yourself at any time. Please ensure that your information is always kept up to date.
How can I change my email address?

How do I select the contract type for the employment contract?
You don’t have to decide that yourself. Based on the information you provide during registration, we will check which type of employment is suitable for you – for example, a mini-job, short-term employment or working student status. If your situation changes, just let us know.
Can I change my workspaces?
Yes, this is possible. You can independently add or remove workspaces in WebEins; this must then be confirmed by us.
Can I register for more than one city?
Yes, this is possible. Please note that this only makes sense if you are regularly present in all the cities you select (e.g. if you study in one city and your parents live in the other, so that you commute regularly). Attention! It is not sufficient to change this setting independently in WebEins; you would also need to contact us.
Shift Scheduling
How often can I work?
You can apply for as many shifts as you like. However, you may not be assigned to all the shifts you apply for. This depends on the number of applicants.
Can I work at weekends as well? Is it okay if I only want to work on certain days?
You can plan completely independently. If you only want to work on certain days or only at weekends, simply apply for those shifts in our calendar.
What happens if I am unable to work for an extended period?
This is not a problem. You do not need to submit any holiday or leave requests with us. This also applies to longer periods, for example if you are abroad for a semester. You simply do not apply during the periods when you are unable or do not wish to work.
Please note: If you wish to resume work after a prolonged absence, it is important that your employee details in WebEins (address, proof of enrolment, etc.) are up to date.
How do I apply for a shift?
You can easily sign up for your preferred individual shifts in our online calendar. This gives you complete flexibility and independence when planning your time. Simply click through the different weeks and apply for the individual shifts.

You simply sign up in our calendar for the shifts that suit your schedule.
Will I be notified when new shifts are added?
The system regularly sends you email updates with new shifts.
How do I know whether I have been assigned to a shift?
The system automatically sends you an email as soon as you have been assigned to a shift. The shift will also appear in your personal overview (Dashboard – upcoming assignments – assigned). We will also send you an email one or two days before your assignment with all the important information.
How do I know if I have NOT been assigned to a shift I applied for?
You will not receive a notification if you are not assigned to a shift. You can recognise fully scheduled shifts by the corresponding icon in WebEins. Your name will then remain on the applicant list, and we assume that you would also be available at very short notice as a replacement. If you do not wish to be considered as a substitute, please withdraw your shift application yourself.
What are the reasons for whether someone is assigned to a shift?
In general, we try to make shift allocations as fair as possible. We want to give everyone the opportunity to work. Therefore, you will not always be allocated to every shift you apply for. This depends, for example, on how often you have worked in the past and how many shifts you have applied for. In addition, certain qualifications (previous experience, certificates, reliability) may also influence shift allocation.
Can jobs be guaranteed for me?
No, we cannot guarantee you any jobs. However, we endeavour to deploy trained employees regularly in the same areas.
How do I cancel a shift? What is the latest time I can cancel a shift?
Once you have been assigned a shift, we firmly expect you to take it on. Should something come up, it is essential that you contact us via the form from our website. Please note that we require at least 8 days We need lead time to be able to find a replacement.
Attention! Please use our website exclusively to cancel your shift. It is important that we can plan reliably. If you do not cancel via the website or only cancel at a late stage, this may negatively affect the future allocation of shifts to you. We cannot accept cancellations after the start of a shift.
Can I swap shifts with someone else?
In principle, this is possible. Please use the form on our website. However, we cannot guarantee that we will be able to accommodate the exchange request.
Can I send a friend if I can’t come to my shift?
No, this is not possible. Any shift swaps must always be agreed with us in advance.
Workwear
What clothing do I need to wear?
You will receive precise information about the clothing to be worn in the deployment email for your respective shift. We kindly ask you to arrive at work with a well-groomed appearance. Your clothing should always be clean and ironed. In general, the following guidelines apply; if in doubt, always follow the instructions in the deployment email or contact us:
- Cabin stewards, baggage handling, jobs on cruise ships: Please wear your company shirt, blue or black jeans (clean, ironed, without holes, NO shorts, leggings, jogging bottoms, skirts, etc.), closed-toe (!) and clean shoes, and your company ID badge. Please note that you will also need your identity card or passport at the port – it must be the same document whose number you have entered in WebEins.
- Jobs in event support, catering and hospitality: Most of the time, you will be asked to wear black trousers, black closed shoes, dark socks (please NO trainer socks) and a white blouse or white shirt. You may receive additional items of clothing on site, e.g. aprons.
- Jobs in the promotions sector: Normally, you provide the trousers and shoes; the top is provided by the client. You can view more detailed requirements or any deviations from this in our shift schedule.
How do I get the company shirt?
This varies and should be checked independently by you in the assignment email before each shift. It is possible that we will bring you the company shirt for your first assignment, or that you will need to collect it from our office beforehand. Either way, you will keep it for the rest of the season. Once you have received the shirt, we will retain a €15 deposit from your first wage payment. Naturally, we will refund this amount if the polo shirt is returned at the end of the season and is still usable (not discoloured, no holes, no permanent stains, etc.).
How should the company shirt be cared for?
The polo shirt is made of sturdy white cotton fabric, so it withstands numerous washes well. Please wash the shirt only with other white items. Hand washing is also possible. Please always wear your shirt freshly washed and ironed when on duty.
What safety clothing does Staff Eins provide?
In selected areas, we provide special protective clothing, such as reinforced-toe shoes and gloves for loading baggage. These items are issued before the start of the shift or must be collected in advance from our office.
International Students
What jobs can I do if I only have basic German language skills?
You can apply for the following jobs: cabin attendant (= housekeeping), baggage loading, and loading (Hamburg, Kiel, Rostock). Not all areas are available in every city; you can find current job vacancies for your city here. here.
What level of German is required for which jobs? How can I prove my German language skills?
Generally, the more contact you have with guests or the more upscale the working environment is, the better your language skills should be. This is the case, for example, in fine dining. It is difficult to assess your German language skills on the basis of a certificate. Please contact us if you are unsure whether your language skills are sufficient. In principle, our jobs outside the cruise sector require language skills at least at C1 or C2 level (depending on the specific job).
Which identity document do I need?
If you are NOT a German citizen, you must have your residence permit as a form of identification. Please upload it to WebEins and remember to bring it with you to every shift.
